07:39 pm - Horse escape
I know there are some horsewomen on my f-list. Here is a Guardian photo story about a horse that got stuck in mud on an Australian beach, and there was a three hour struggle to free him before the tide came in. I will give the end away: the horse was freed before the water reached him, thank goodness.

The rider is distraught isn't she, and understandably so. Very glad it all worked out.

That brings back memories of the photos in the War Horse programme - there was a terribly sad one of a shire horse that had come off the wooden tracks and was standing patiently up to its chest in mud, just waiting, while the humans scratch their heads. There wouldn't have been anything anyone could do to help. Apparently they lost a lot of draft horses to the mud.

I'm so glad this one was freed!

Is programme the right word? I mean those little pamphlets you get in theatres telling you about the production.

I think programme is right.

I am glad I did not see that pic of the horse because it would make me feel very sad.

Yeah, saw that. Thank goodness, indeed.
