On Glycon

OMG I missed it. Comedian Stewart Lee guest-edited the Today programme on BBC Radio 4 this morning. The show can be heard in full here but you might prefer to listen to selected highlights here. Highlights include AS Byatt on the Norse gods and an interview with Mark E Smith.

Contractually obliged to include the religious slot 'Thought for the Day', atheist Lee asked Alan Moore to do it. Alan Moore of course, is famous for his eccentric religious beliefs:
Hello, my name is Alan Moore, and I make a living by making up stories about things that never actually happened. Perhaps that's why I worship a human headed snake, that was exposed as a ventriloquist's dummy nearly 2,000 years ago.... A tame boa constrictor in a blonde wig, it was a bit like Paris Hilton but more biologically credible.

The big advantage of worshipping a god which is a glove puppet is that if things get a bit unruly, you can always put it gack in the gox.

It's less than two minutes long, and well worth a listen. I like the sincere voice he uses, a bit like the Bishop of Chichester (or whatever).

That's cheered me up. Self doubt - you can go GACK in the GOX.
