Wagon train to the stars

This Catalogue is some kind of collaborative wiki type deal. It is a pretty comprehensive catalogue of the standard plots, tropes, and characters that turn up in TV shows. If, like me, you like plots and scripts and such stuff, there appears to be loads to read. Lots of refs to Buffy, Angel, Trek, CSI etc... Mostly American shows.

Bottle episode: An episode of a long-running show that takes place entirely within the spaceship/hospital/house/school/whatever that is the main set for the show, without ever venturing outside.... All the modern Star Trek series would frequently resort to series of BottleEpisode when ratings were down. A notable side effect of bottle episodes is that they are frequently of higher quality in terms of writing, direction, character development, and plot, than their non-bottle counterparts. (edit - I love bottle episodes.)

The Kimberley - A character so idiotic that you really start to hope he or she dies (named after Kim Bauer in 24 - ain't that the truth)

The LARGE HAM - Ridiculously larger than life character...Typically played by a guest star with an imdb listing longer than the rest of cast put together. ... the first line from the LargeHam will be dramatic, portentious, often just before the act break and can almost always be replaced with: "Did somebody order a LARGE HAM?". Try it at home, it's fun.
