I have read very few of these, to my shame. I was going to say it was probably a reflection of my lack of sf reading more than any particular bias towards male authors but I did a lot of my sf reading as a kid when I just read everything that the local library offered, so perhaps their selection was a bit conventional?

I was just thinking the other day that my first ever stab at fanfiction (as opposed to derivative world building, which I did for both Earthsea & Middle-earth) was for an Andre Norton children's novel, though I didn't know it at the time.

I more or less only read books by women during most of the 1980s, which is when I read most of those.
