On Japan

There's only once or twice in twenty years I have woken H up to tell him the news, and yesterday was one of those times. He got up early and we sat and watched the first footage of the events in Japan on BBC News. I have never seen anything like that wall of water pouring across the land, eating up farmhouses. It was going so fast.

This morning I see on the Guardian site that there is continuing concern about the nuclear reactors. This updating post says there was an explosion at a nuclear plant at 6.30am (my time, mid-afternoon in Japan). Japan battles to stave off nuclear meltdown.

Best thoughts and concern to anyone touched by these events.
