|09:58 pm - Salt|
I just went to see Salt starring Angelina Jolie. It's similar to the Bourne Identity, which I think is a great film, and this is just a knock-off but I enjoyed it. The lead was originally going to be Tom Cruise, but it was more fun to see Jolie in the Matt-Damon-style super soldier role. It was fun. The plot was pretty dumb, but it was pacey and exciting.
Action films either appeal to me, or they don't. I liked this one. I like fighting in films, and it was nice to see Jolie beating up five guys at once, and disabling security systems with her pants and so on.
I also thought Liev Shreiber was pretty hot, specially when he starts fighting too.
ETA and Chiwetel Ejiofor is the third character in it - he was The Operative right? He's good in this too.
I really want to see this!
Me too! I've been looking at reviews and thinking it looks like splendid fun.
I definitely like some action films, and dislike others. I don't know whether there is a qualitative difference between the ones I like and the others, or if it's just the mood I am in on the day.
This one may have had only one female character but at least she was bad ass.
Is that pants in the US sense of trousers or the British sense of knickers? I just want to make sure I have the right image in mind.
Knickers. It's a minor incident, no important spoilers
Of course, as the equivalent of Jason Bourne or John McLean, she does get punched and shot and bloodied, but for me it was all exciting and - you know - not the smallest bit offensive.
And I assume Jolie's character was punching, shooting and making other people bloody too, as well as being the recipient?
I vary considerably with action films (I disappointed S by not liking The Bourne Identity much) but I have a high tolerance for Bond films, probably because I grew up with them.
I first read that bit as "with her pants on" ;)
I suppose that communicator
's sentence makes no comment as to whether Jolie was wearing the pants or not while making use of them to disable security systems. I clearly assumed pantslessness on her part.
I saw a trailer for this and thought it looked fun. Also (speaking of Cruise) saw a trailer for Knight and Day a while ago and thought it looked like it would be more fun if Tom played the civilian and Cameron the spy.
Yes. I would have gone to see that.
