11:28 am - Luther: not as bad as I said before
This is more or less what I was going to say about Luther. I wrote it off after the first episode, and I've been out every Tuesday since then, but I caught episode 5, and I thought it was good. Not 'best thing ever omg', but good for anodyne BBC1. It's highly preposterous and melodramatic, like Spooks perhaps, and like Spooks it seems to rip along quite convincingly. Perhaps needs a broader cast? As I watched last night I promised myself to catch up with the episodes I had missed on i-Player.

ETA - amusingly they phoned Munch in New York SVU to trace a suspect, tying Luther into an ever-expanding universe of pretend police

Re your ETA: also expanding the myth of John Munch. That's various flavours of Law & Order, Homicide, The Wire, The X-Files, Arrested Development, and I'm sure I've forgotten something...

I didn't know he was in the X-Files. This also therefore ties Luther and all the shows you listed into the St Elsewhere universe/dream I think.

St Elsewhere. This is what is so brilliant. As St Elsewhere turned out to have been all-a-dream, ALL THOSE OTHER SHOWS are just a dreamscape.
