School of Rock

I went to see 'School of Rock' with my kids. It's a nice robust cheerful film. Jack Black gives a super performance, his face and body are so mobile. The odd thing about the experience was that not only was I the oldest person in the cinema, but my 15 year old son was the second oldest. So, the audience were extremely boisterous. A good time was had by all.

Slightly surprising joke in a kids' film: Jack Black is excusing his impersonation of a teacher to the pupils' parents. 'During the past three weeks, your children have touched me. And I think I have touched them all too.' The next shot is Jack Black racing down the school corridor, pursued by a posse of murderous parents. The tiny tots in the audience all got it, and laughed viciously.

Nice to hear the Sex Pistols and the Ramones. Nice to see uptight Joan Cusack getting off, discreetly, with a fucking buff guitarist called 'Spider'.
