04:08 pm - Annual 'grinding to halt' commences
Our work closed because some white flakes fell on it. No, to be fair, there is promised severe weather on the way, and they want people (like happytune for instance) who need to travel a long way to get home ahead of the storm. Good for me who gets to walk home in a winter wonderland and then huggle by the fire.

Journey was pretty much clear - slower, but no severe snow...To be honest I think they over-reacted, but if it has been the other way round it would have caused more problems.

Yes, I think they over-reacted. I wonder if it will be open tomorrow. I forgot my laptop power cable :-(

We got kicked out early, but for us there really was severe transport disruption - as in, plaintive note on the bus company website that there were no buses in one area because the roads around the depot were all jammed up with cars and they couldn't get out of the depot...

LOL. I think it's much worse up there where you are.

Hah! Sounds like where I live. However, a couple of weeks ago, a few snowflakes fell unexpectedly late in the afternoon on a weekday (just before Xmas), and everyone got in their cars at once, and six hours and six inches of snow later, most of them were still stuck on the freeways and in the hills.

Me, I was home that day, but the fallout of vitriol and anger and general wankery is still precipitating on us in letters to the editor, etc. *eyeroll*

All of which is a longish way of saying that anything, even a preemptive strike against what turns out to be nothing, is probably better than that nonsense.

Someone on my f-list posted at 1am to say she had just got home from work - eight hours stuck in the car crawling along! How dreadful.
