05:12 pm - Pigeon in rhino mask and friends
I found this wonderful website via metafilter. I've posted sites like this before, because I love them. Basically it is a series of kids' drawings accompanied by reinterpretations of those drawings by professional illustrators (in this case, because their dad, Aaron Zenz, is in the business himself). Well, anyway, that dry description doesn't convey how delightful the whole thing is. It's worth scrolling through the full set of pics.

I think little kids have got such open imaginations, and great sense of emotion and style, hampered only by still-limited 'technical' skills. The professionals add that technical competence.

I think I'm going to be looking at that site for a while - both the originals and the variety of re-imaginings are wonderful. Thanks for the link!

Burnt Norton icon!

I was going to link to one in this reply, and say 'this is my favourite', but I've just looked through and it's hard to pick one. This is good.

I've been uploading T S Eliot icons today!

That balloon one is lovely. I'd have to spend a lot of time looking to pick a favourite. Oh, the very last picture about kissing manatees - I think I prefer Gracie's original because she hasn't succumbed to the tyranny of thin in illustration as the re-imaginings have, and her words are better.

I love the one of the mouse sitting on the cat. Wonderful idea and then wonderfully executed. Also, I think Gracies drawing skills are quickly improving to the point where she doesn't need to have her pictures re-interpreted.

I thought the kids, especially Isaac, were pretty good drawers. It obviously runs in the family.

You might like Yoendoo Jung's Wonderland series, which is a recreation of children's drawings in real life. I think they are magical.
