Go

This is a poem I have been working on for a while.

Go

Too bold
I am
To boldly go
Is two iambs

Embellished with
Three-fold internal rhyme
And peppered with a split infinitive
To boldly go where no...

'Now there'
as Humpty Dumpty said
'is glory for you.'
Words may come to mind

Perhaps like ice-disks on the shore
Unshaped by human hand, we only snatch them
From the water's edge
before they melt away,

But everyone knows fancy
When it's bred
Although its birth
May be an accident.

'To be or not to be'
to Be
too Bold
to boldly Go

Go

The influx of the tide does not withdraw
Inland, inland with the encroaching flood
Like letting out your breath
Each wave delivers more
and so we rise

where no
no
no man

abyss of
hurtling stars
(you see them
now in your mind's eye)
the empty universe
daunts or provokes ambition

Man

The twinkling water trembles at the brim
It bulges, yearns,
and overspills

has gone

Plummet with water
and encroaching
night
light
speed
warp speed and falling tides
It falls
and all
This golden fire
This mighty universe
This vault of fraudulent ambition

Gone

where no man has gone before.
