|11:16 pm - Different identities|
I've put a dreamwidth disposition on. I'm terribly bad at getting acclimatised to new things though. I'll see how I can get used ot it.
This blog post (via metafilter) is about the silly names that radio presenters have on NPR in the States. No idea. But the method for determining your 'NPR' name is funny:
You take your middle initial and insert it somewhere into your first name. Then you add on the smallest foreign town you’ve ever visited.
Mine would be Almison Lautrec which is a great name isn't it? Well, for some definitions of 'great'. I may use it as a pseudonym.
I'm not entirely convinced by Hjolly Hellingly, but it's at least an interesting confirmation that I still think of the UK as foreign.
'This is Almison Lautrec reporting live from the UK... back to Hjolly Hellingly in the studio'
NPR must be a very strange place
I've put a dreamwidth disposition on.
Does that mean you're only on LJ north by northwest?
I think I'm more entrenched than that. I'm told the whole thing will merge seamlessly into one. or something.
What is this 'dreamwidth' thing that everyone is going on about?
It's an alternative version of livejournal, made by some ex livejournal staff, and I think it is intended to be completely synchronised with it. I just visited my dreamwidth page, and it seems to be showing my lj icon.
It's desperately needed, since there are only about a dozen alternative versions of livejournal already. And we really need to split LJ even further.
I know, I share your concerns. I am told this will not fragment the system further, and it's all integrated.
All we can hope is that it dies as quickly as possible. If it's all integrated, then what on earth is the point of it?
Of course I've been hoping farcebook will die as well, but it hasn't happened yet. But it doesn't stop me from hoping! ;-)
