I just read a post on metafilter about a bizarre seventies-themed motel, called, for god knows why, The Gobbler. Click on the 'next' buttons through it, or inspect the glamorous luv-themed rooms here and here and here.
In a funny sort of way I quite like that sort of thing, because it's so inappropriate and ghastly, it's almost sexy. I don't know how long you could spend in the 'Passion Pit' (the first of those rooms) before it would put you off. I was going to do a poll but I bottled out.
You weren't kidding about the ghastly part!
That shade of blue is horrible. And the stone cladding...
According to one of the pages, the foyer is clad in stone and petrified wood, if you can believe it

Well I like it. They had style back in the 70s. I'm not saying it was good style, but at least it was some style.
And we want that poll.

Aren't those things on the walls in the waterbed room remarkably similar to the Little Chef symbol? I suppose Little Chef would go rather well with this whole hotel.

They all feel very subterranean and claustrophobic. I'd feel trapped.
Claustrophobia - also Vila's weakness, well, one of 'em
ETA - Vila : "I can't go in there, I've got a condition - a fear of enclosed spaces. There's a name for it..."
