|08:21 am - How did you hear?|
There was an announcement about Doctor Who yesterday, while I was asleep, and it's interesting to see how it has spread. I'm interested in how, and how rapidly, news propagates nowadays. Here's a poll. There are no spoilers.
There's been an announcement about Doctor Who casting - how did you find out about it?
Someone's livejournal post

Haven't heard it yet
I got emailed by a friend and then five minutes later another one rang me up to say, "Have you heard?!"
I wonder what ways of finding out I've missed off the poll?

Oddly enough I picked it up from Google's blogsearch front page, where it was one of the top stories.
Traditonal media in that it was the ABC, non-traditonal in that I now access their headlines via their website.
I was surprised to see it there, to be honest. Took it as a sign of just how popular Dr.Who has become.

I heard it on the news, but my level of interest in the matter is such that nobody online was likely to email me about it!
Brian Blessed for the next one - well, they'll want someone who can gurn, shout and be generally OTT, won't they?

My immediate reaction was "Captain Slow!!!" so I'm not likely to be much use in a serious discussion...
This is actually one of the reasons I've entirely stopped reading paper newspapers. By the time they're printed I've already heard all the news in them I'm even vaguely interested in!
I checked the BBC news site for an update on the ongoing Brand/Ross fiasco, and there it was.
I don't think there's much point worrying about spoilers on this story. It's all over the news. And to be honest, is anybody really surprised? Tennant is a well-loved household name, he's established himself as not only a great actor but also one of our most bankable stars, and he's playing Hamlet at the RSC to full houses and rave reviews. If there was ever a time for him to move on, this is it.
The only reason I've seen most people care is that they wanted to see if Moffat could improve on all the crappy writing Davies through at the character and redeem the character a bit. "Surprise" doesn't really seem to enter into it. :)

I first heard about it on LJ, but I noticed it made the front page of the online Melbourne paper, The Age.
To clarify: the email was to a mailing list I'm on. But it was a close call - I had email open in one tab, lj in another, and I happened to check the email tab before the lj tab. If I'd have done it the other way round I'd have heard on lj first.
Radio Four headline in the Ten O'Clock News.
media don't get much more traditional than that
They'll retrospectively change that - the Shadow Proclamation will rescind the Manifold or something.
told me, but it was hidden behind an LJ-cut.
Even in the depths of Wales with no internet, I heard about it. (Via a text message to coalescent

I heard it on R2 news as I drove to work.
