|07:28 am - Flu and buttermilk|
Oh boy, I have been really poorly. I might still be, but I feel clear headed right now so I'm posting. I think it's flu. I had a high temperature off and on, and headache and so on, and I was asleep a lot of the time, having nightmares like editing an endless series of HTML :-( I haven't eaten anything since Saturday. Yesterday all I had all day was a chicken stock cube in a cup of hot water. Also this morning my bed is soaking wet, and I've got to strip it and air everything I suppose. However, I think I might be getting better, so quite a short bout of flu with any luck.
It seems strange to say, but in the times I was feeling OK I picked up The Yiddish Policeman's Union, and I'm enjoying it more this time. I think in September my attention was being pulled a hundred different ways, and at least now I've got five minutes' peace. Anyway, the reason for saying that is that in an early chapter the detective visits his partner's family and they give him buttermilk, and I was suddenly 'mmmm... buttermilk'. So I packed H off to late night shop and he got some buttermilk and soft fruit and I made smoothies. Last night I had buttermilk with blueberry and banana (not all that nice because the banana wasn't ripe enough) and blueberry and blackberry which was much nicer. So I'll live on those until I can eat solid food.

Yeuch - that flu sounds ghastly. Get better soon.
Thanks guy. I don't know where I caught it but it's bloody awful.
Yuck. Take care of yourself, Real Proper Flu is a nasty thing and it takes a while to rebuild your strength afterwards.
Thanks. I'm going back to bed now, in the spare room while the main bed dries out. I hope my work understand if I'm a bit slow next week.
Heavens - since when have they ever been bothered about stuff like that! One decent thing about working where we do. I'm sure they'll just be glad to have you back.
I hope you're feeling better soon. Butttermilk smoothies are a tasty way of getting some nutrition in the meantime though.
Thanks. A bit of protein and vitamins I hope.
Yikes, you poor thing. Get well soon.
I hope you feel better soon!
Get a good rest, and don't push yourself back to work before you're ready! And enjoy your buttermilk. I'm not sure I've ever had that... I remember years ago going to see Raise the Red Lantern and coming out desperate to eat bean curd, because the wives kept talking about whether they'd have it for lunch. Mind you, it doesn't take much to get me desperate for bean curd.
Coincidentally my son just bought a load of Korean bean curd products over the Internet. One packet has sticks of dried bean curd - they look a bit like long ragged pieces of bamboo or wood. Have you any suggestions about how he might cook them? What do you do with bean curd usually?
(NB he just gave me some vegetarian beef jerky made of - yes - bean curd. Gak. It tastes like denim soaked in Marmite. But I'm not feeling very eat-y at the moment)
Nightmares of editing HTML? You really were sick.
Seriously, that sounds like you've had it bad, I'm sorry, communicator. I'm just glad that it's improving - I hope it continues to improve.
And the most recent was editing the National Curriculum. It was all footnotes.
I hope you feel better soon. There are some nasty viruses going about again, it seems. Take it gently.
Oh, dear, I hope you feel better soon. The smoothies sound just the ticket.
