Presents of mind

I gave H a mandolin for Christmas, and I'm really pleased I did. It's one of the best gifts I've ever given I think. He plays it all the time. It's a fender with an electric pick-up but he is only using it acoustic at the moment. I got it at the music shop in Stratford.

I bought my nephew two Doctor Who DVDs. A Troughton series called 'The Invasion'. Episodes 1 and 4 are rendered by animated visuals to original soundtrack recorded by fans, because the original footage was lost by the BBC. He sat and watched it straight through, which is hours and hours. And the other one I got him was Genesis of the Daleks because I thought it provided some good back story to the Time Wars and so on. He hasn't watched that yet. My brother got him The Two Doctors, so he's got quite a bit of background there.

I had a great break. I love my extended family and I wish I could see them a lot more often. By gum I needed this break and I feel much better than I did a week ago.

Anyway, I'm back home now, and it's nice to be home too. Thanks to happytune for looking after the cats.

At the moment I have set up this journal so that only friends can comment. I hate doing this, but I was just getting too much Russian spam.
