Vitamin Q has a list today of some of the songs played on the BBC while the various top 100 novels were being discussed. My favourite was 'Stupid Cupid' to accompany Emma, and 'Money's too tight to mention' for A Christmas Carol.

happytunesuggests we try to think of songs for the remaining 21 novels (as per the vote discussion yesterday). Here are some suggestions:

1984 - 'I am the one in ten' by UB40
Birdsong -
Captain Corelli's Mandolin -
Catch 22 - 'Should I stay or should I go?' by the Clash
The Catcher in the Rye - 'Teenage Dirtbag' by Wheatus (NB I've never read this so I'm just guessing)
Great Expectations - 'Don't you want me baby?' by Human League
Gone with the Wind
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - 'Fire starter' by Prodigy
His Dark Materials
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - 'Silver Machine' by Hawkwind
Jane Eyre -
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe -
Little Women - 'We are Family' by Sister Sledge
Lord of the Rings -
To Kill a Mockingbird - 'Strange Fruit' by Billie Holiday
Pride and Prejudice -
Rebecca -
War and Peace - 'Two Tribes' by Frankie goes to Hollywood
The Wind in the Willows - 'Wild Wood' by Paul Weller
Winnie the Pooh - 'Fat Bottom Bears' by Queen
Wuthering Heights - Duh

I have left the remainder as an exercise for the reader.
