I am Kilrain and I'm a fightin' man and I come from County Clare

H is going back to music performance, like he used to do when he was younger, just amateur now though. He dragged me along last night to a folk night, which I have tended to avoid because I'm not a massive fan of folk, and I don't want to stand up in a smoky room for hours. But the room was laid out cabaret-style, and although it was smoky I had a good view and could sip my G&T in comfort at a table, quite civilised. H played a set of three Steve Earle songs (Dixieland, Pilgrim, and another one called something like 'she might forget' and I do in fact forget what its real title is) . H performs with another older guy called Owen who plays the electric fiddle, and they seem to go down well with the punters.

I've known H twenty years and I've never heard him sing into a mike before - he's got a nice voice, quite deep.
