Food from films

I was talking last week about ITV crime drama. In the ad breaks on that they show little recipes (sponsored by Sainsbury's I think). On Sunday I invited my mum and dad over and made them a dinner based on ITV crime drama recipes. Specifically beef roasted in a coating of whole grain mustard and muscovado sugar, and big mushrooms baked with a slice of stilton and wrapped in parma ham. I should have also done the roast potato with tzatziiki and smoked salmon but I forgot.

When I told my parents it was an ITV murder meal they looked quite dumbfounded. I don't think they approved even when I explained. Humph, old fogies.

Recipes from the shows. I started eating chips with masses of mayonnaise as a result of watching Pulp Fiction (Vincent: 'And I don't mean a little bit on the side of the plate, they fuckin' drown 'em in it.'). Another one is Bovril with Sherry in it, as recommended by Noel Coward in the wonderful war film 'In which we serve' (Cpt Kinross: 'It's simply Bovril, with lashings of sherry.')

There must be some from books too, but I can't think just now. Do you have any like this?
