Key points
* Floods from rising sea levels could displace up to 100 million people
* Melting glaciers could cause water shortages for 1 in 6 of the world's population
* Wildlife will be harmed; at worst up to 40% of species could become extinct
* Droughts may create hundreds of millions of "climate refugees"
This could make the second world war look like a picnic.
I feel this issue calls into question capitalism itself, the market as an institution, and even - to some extent - the limits of democracy. I believe in democracy, but everything reverts to its least complex lowest-energy form, and it represents lower energy to lie to people than to do the hard work involved in delivering truth.
