Great dance video from the black 1940s musical 'Stormy Weather', two guys (the Nicholls Brothers) dancing to Cab Calloway. Fred Astaire apparently said this was the best tap-dancing sequence ever recorded and you can see why. Brilliant.

And while we are on the subject of dance here are the best legs ever on Cyd Charisse. Blimey.

Thanks. The dancing is awesome. Also, I love the way you can get video straight to your desktop these days.

Is it just me, or does Cyd Charisse only straighten her legs fully when Gene is bending, or sitting, so you can't see how amazingly tall she is compared to him? Damn shame, really.

You're right it is a shame. I like that Gene Kelly is kind of short and tough, I think it makes him more sexy.

Ingrid Bergman had to dance with Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca more or less in full plie.

Charisse *is* wearing very very high heels in that clip, although I hate to uphold norms of female fragility.

high heels regardless, I think you'd be looking at Cyd C a long time before the word 'fragile' came to mind

I've seen those dancers before - on a couple documentaries, I think - and yes, they are brilliant.

I'd never heard of them, so quite a revelation to me
