Google Trends

Google trends gives you a timeline graph showing frequency of a search term. For instance here is the word 'bomb' peaking at July 7th last year.

Or, by separating terms with a comma, you can compare the relative frequency of two terms. This one shows that 'doctor who' has been catching up with 'star trek' lately.

The laziest journalism is an article that says 'If you enter x into Google you get 15 million hits, showing how important it is...' blah blah. I expect we'll see more lazy journalists mining this rich seam for irony. I wonder when I'll first see this one in a newspaper?

At the moment I have set up this journal so that only friends can comment. I hate doing this, but I was just getting too much Russian spam.
