Recently, several science gurus -- Nobel Prize winners, institute heads, teachers and others who spend most of their time thinking about science -- were asked, "What is one science question every high school graduate should be able to answer?"
These were put together into a 'science quiz' here. I think some of the questions are badly worded, and the answer about salt is plain wrong.
There was a similar question in the Guardian Notes and Queries this week: 'what basic science facts should every well informed person know'.
here are my suggestions:
- Some idea of layout and size of the Universe and Solar System
- What natural selection is
- How an ecology works
- What atoms and molecules are
- What light and sound are
- How the human body works, in general terms
What would you pick?
