Poor thing

Fears were growing today for a whale swimming up the Thames after it was seen floundering in the shallow margins of the river.

"Crowds gathered on the banks of the Thames to observe the 15ft long mammal, which has been identified by the Natural History Museum as a northern bottle-nosed whale. The whale has become increasingly distressed as it entered waist-high water near Battersea power station. "

Some observers have spotted two of the mild-mannered deep sea creatures. But how to rescue them?

'How do you get two whales from Battersea?'
'Underground from Vauxhall to Paddington and then take the express to Cardiff'

Finger crossed for the poor old thing.
