05:43 pm - Where the Truth Lies
I'm going to see Where the Truth Lies tonight with H. Yes, I know I'm predictable.

Anyone else seen it?

I saw it yesterday. Bacon and Firth are both great in it but apart from that the movie is terribly awkward and surprisingly tame considering the publicity. It has its moments though. After I'd seen it I spent all of yesterday thinking to myself that there had to be something more to the movie than what struck me when watching it. After scratching my head for a few hours I've come to the conclusion that there really isn't anything more to it. I've got it downloaded to my computer (it doesn't seem like its going to be released in the cinemas here in Sweden at all) so I'll probably give it another shot though. Let me know what you think of it.

We watch the same movies don't we?

Yes, I think that's what I thought too. It was diverting enough, but something was wrong with the pacing of the emotion at the end. Perhaps the same as what you mean by 'awkward'.

We do seem to do that:)

I think it would actually have benefited a great deal from being shot in a more ironic way instead of in Atom Egoyan's misty and rather dreamy way. Brian de Palma at his best would probably have done a good job with the material. Plus of course if he'd have shot it there would have been lots of Hitchcock references, which would have made me a happy camper. It's pulp material being taken seriously.
