Life on Mars

Life on Mars on TV last night. I dug it. This was partly because I was a teenager in the seventies, and I like British seventies films and music and all the rest of it. There's a weight of nostalgia (and relief that it's all over) there. The sex and the sexism, kind of pulling you in two directions.

I also like ambiguous meaning (hope the meaning is never resolved).

Just before they jumped over the desk I was shouting 'Oh, man, this is so good' and then when they did - well, words fail me. It was tops.

I agree, it had width rather than depth, though John Simm isn't a superficial actor by any means.

All told it was My Kind of Show, but it might get on my nerves if it's not careful :-)

(NB I also watched a fantastic Japanese film called 'The Twilight Samurai' on BBC4 - highly recommended)

ETA - and the lyrics have been going through my head ALL DAY 'oh, man, look at those cavemen go' (mind, I think that every day)

I see Gove has backed down on climate change and it's back in the curriculum again.

At the moment I have set up this journal so that only friends can comment. I hate doing this, but I was just getting too much Russian spam.
