Query on chinese character sets

I am putting together a translation of the Dao De Jing. At the moment the Chinese symbols I am using are just basically nicked from an online version of the Dao. The Microsoft character sets are quite basic and ugly, plus I can't get them to work properly. I was wondering whether anyone knew where I could get a fairly comprehensive and visually attractive chinese character set, perhaps as a CD dictionary (I am happy to spend a bit of money on a good set) so I could put together my own text. The kind of basic 800-character CD they sell on amazon isn't comprehensive enough.

BTW this is my favourite Chinese dictionary in paper form
it's analytical and has some basic etymology, but it's a bit fiddly and technical, and the font is quite small in places.

At the moment I have set up this journal so that only friends can comment. I hate doing this, but I was just getting too much Russian spam.
