I've just watched Edge of Darkness of DVD, twenty years after I last saw it. You have to say: 'this seminal BBC production set the tone for the entire development of TV drama for, like, ever'. The darkness, the gloomy acting style, the paranoia: it's nineties film and television, five years early. It stands up to repeat viewing as well as any TV series I've seen - good visual design, good acting, excellent script. Incidentally - creepy to hear them talking about the Gulf War, in 1985. Was that what they called the Iran/Iraq conflict in those days? I can't remember. Blakes 7 fans - episode 5 features Brian Croucher, playing basically Travis 2 but without the funny finger. Episode 6 features Gan at a NATO conference, acting exactly like David Jackson used to at conventions. It's hardly like acting, it's just Jackson being himself.
