Le Guin on plot rhythm in Tolkein

I hope people on my f-list will like this:

'Meditations on Middle-earth: Rhythmic Patterning in The Lord of the Rings' by Ursula K Le Guin.

... a pulsation back and forth between polarities of feeling, mood, image, emotion, action - examples of the stress/release pulse that I think is fundamental to the structure of the book. Each such reversal or pulsation occurs more than once in the chapter, some three or four times.

ETA I knew it seemed familiar, it's from 'Wave in the Mind'

At the moment I have set up this journal so that only friends can comment. I hate doing this, but I was just getting too much Russian spam.
