I've just had a phone call from my ex, my son's appendix has popped like mine did 5 years ago. They are in a village near Melton Mowbray. My son has a temperature and is vomiting, and in pain.
My ex is just setting off to drive my son back to Coventry - it's almost the nearest A&E anyway. It should take about an hour. I hope I did right to say get him back here if you can. If things get much worse in the hour then he'll have to find another emergency room, probably Leicester. But I think an hour is OK.
Just letting everyone know. May not be online now for a while.
Thank you for the kind thoughts and comments. His appendix hasn't in fact perforated (yet) so they have given him morphine to make him comfy while they do tests to rule out other things. He's zonked out asleep now. I popped home to have a bath and get some food. Surgeons were open and courteous in explaining everything to us. They may operate tonight or wait until tomorrow. I am still hopeful that he might be out for Christmas.
