breaking bad

The Subtle Knife

I picked up 'His Dark Materials: Northern Lights' a couple of days ago (NB I think it's called 'The Golden Compass' in the US). I had forgotten how good it was. I am now half way through 'the Subtle Knife'. It's fantastic all over again.

I'm really looking forward to the film. The cast is very exciting. Daniel Craig as Lord Asriel! Sam Elliott as Lee Scoresby! (The Big Lebowski: 'You got that whole cowboy thing going on'). Tom Courney as Fader Coram - brilliant casting. And, yes, even Nicole Kidman as Mrs Coulter. She's pale and (pretend) evil enough.

Do you think the fundies will finally cotton on, once it's a film (not a hard book with words) that the series is million times more anti-religion and pro-'defiance' than Harry Potter. Or do you think the Knife is actually so Subtle that it will slip in without smarting? (Do you see what I did there? Clever eh)
