breaking bad

fjm is conducting a comments-poll relating Myers-Briggs category to SF fandom; two subjects I am interested in. You can take the poll here.

Do you think there is a difference between loving SF and being an SF 'fan'? Does 'fan' have unfortunate connotations? Or is that prejudice?

If you like SF - Do you feel you have something about your personality which is common to other SF readers? if so, what?
breaking bad

Do I dare to eat a peach?

I went to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers in concert last night, at the new Coventry Ricoh Stadium. I used to be a massive fan of the RHCP, and I still like them. They gave a good performance, like the Stones do for instance: high-quality versions of the acknowledged classics, a couple from the new album, and a couple of cheeky covers. They are fit, talented, consistent, and charismatic - they gave at full strength.

On the other hand, this is probably the last big stadium concert I'll ever go to. The support (Dirty Pretty Things) were rubbish, the sound mixing was poor, and waiting around for hours is surprisingly tiresome if you aren't stoned. It took an hour and a half to get out of the car park at the end, because of poor logistics, which was very tiring at midnight. And all in all, I think I'm too old to enjoy being showered with flying beer and jostled by bare sweaty overweight torsos. Small venues for me only from now on.
