Richard Thompson's top twenty songs of the last 1000 years. This is a super premise for a list. I can't hope to compete with his erudition, but I find some of his choices rather odd. I wouldn't have included Britney Spears in there. I would have included 'Greensleeves', and something by Elvis Costello. I would have picked 'Take Me I'm Yours' by Squeeze, instead of 'Tempted' (though that is a very clever song). What's the best song (as a song) by the Beatles? Penny Lane?
It's a challenging and horizon-expanding concept isn't it?
hmmm... 'Jerusalem' should be in there I think, and 'Liliburlero' (I don't know how to spell that)
