I watched Jerry Springer: The Opera on BBC2. There's absolutely no way it should be banned. I'm a bit too tired now to go into it but it was a light hearted treatment of the problem of good and evil. Jerry Springer gets shot during a broadcast and has a kind of hallucination where all the white trash people from his show take on theological roles, such as Satan and Adam and Eve, and argue about reconciliation. It had quite a lot of swearing. Obviously the roles of religious figures were taken by trashy characters - the Adam figure was a man who thought all women were sluts, the Jesus figure was a childish man who wore nappies. Does that in any way subtract from the Christian belief system? I don't see how it could.
You can read a selection of BBC viewers' comments here. I thought they were quite ignorant. Literally ignorant, because they didn't have any idea what it was like.
