Thinking about moving on

I'm feeling very mournful at the moment because my lovely work team is splitting up. happytune was promoted outside the team, edblog has got a better job, in another organisation, and our third team member (not on livejournal!) who is a consultant, is employed much less regularly than he was.

My boss isn't a bad person, but he can be quite difficult. When we were in a little two-man team running the policy unit he used to wear me out. He's quite emotional and gets stressed by events. As do we all. It was so great having other people there to provide stability and good humour.

But in a sense making it about my boss is a cop-out. The fact is they are my friends, I got used to seeing them every day and working with them, now I won't have that daily reward to look forward to. edblog and I are going to try and write a book together, so that gives some working pretext, but it won't be the same.

Anyway, the upshot is that I think I'll try and look for another job. I'm not prepared to work in London, or travel far from home, so my options are somewhat restricted. It's a puzzle.
