Now we get onto the subject of stem cell research, and the equation of fertilised ova with babies. I can't really empathise with that at all. However - at a pinch - I can accept that some people believe that god has told them that a fertilised egg is the moral equivalent of a living human being. It seems strange to me, but what the heck, it's no stranger than communion wine= god's blood.
But what I can't understand is how people with this idiosyncratic view about fertilised ova, are so sure that people who disagree with them are evil. I accept they think we are misguided fools, but deliberate cold-blooded murderers, wallowing joyfully in the slaughter?
Anyway, this reverie was brought about by reading this Digby postabout reactions on the right to the death of Christopher Reeve.
Wonder if Hell is handicapped accessible
When injured living a life of luxury and leisure, he fought for vain, desperate hopes for what might keep him alive, even if it caused the deaths of millions.
The bloodlust is positively demonic.
This is where my imagination breaks down. Sure they think he was misguided on a point of theology, but to use this kind of language is beyond my understanding.
