England's coming home

I hardly want to post anything about the football today, but I don't think I should ignore it. England lost on penalties to Portugal, after a match in which they didn't play particularly well, but where the quality of refereeing was abysmal and biased. I would be of course disappointed if we went out under any circumstances, but to go out in this way leaves an unpleasant aftertaste.

Very sadly our best player, a teenager called Wayne Rooney of huge potential, broke his foot during the match. I hope he isn't seriously incapacitated by this. An indicator of the quality of the referee is that he awarded a free kick to Portugal, following the incident in which the Portugese player broke Rooney's metatarsal.
