Milo my cat has a slightly poorly eye. I might take him to the vet today. Anyway, a nice bloke from up the road came by to make sure we knew about Milo's eye. Who? Well, it turns out Milo has been going there during the day, when we are all out, for a couple of years now. This chap is retired and does a lot of painting, and Milo keeps him company while he works, and in return he buys a tray of chicken bits every few days to share with his feline friend.
I'm looking after my Mum's cat at the moment, and disgruntled Milo has been disappearing for up to a day at a time. I was worried - particularly with it being cold. Now I know he is somewhere warm and safe, being a muse. Or should I says 'mews'.
When the chap came round Milo came up to him all friendly - ah my chicken provider - and this guy tickles him under the chin and picks him up. Milo is perfectly happy with this manhandling - the hussy. The man says 'Oh, hello Dave'. Dave? That's Milo's name when he's at this guy's house. A cat called Dave.
I'd let someone call me Dave in return for some chicken bits.
Absolutely. This guy seems really very nice, I think Milo has made a good choice.

We have a book called Six Dinners Sid. Sid the cat lives at all six houses in his road, under a different name at each. As in any self-respecting modern community, the people in the houses don't know or talk to each other. Sid is only busted when he gets poorly and is taken to the vet six times in one day.
Yes, that's it. He may have four further identities I haven't discovered yet.

6 dinners Milo!
This would explain why he sometimes won't have his dinner. Full up.
Oh yes, like when our neighbour asked if Thomas was OK because he hadn't been round for his plate of fish that day. He wouldn't eat fish in our house.
No, really? They are so funny. I give Milo dried food and wet food and he stares at them mournfully until I sprinkle the dry food onto the wet food and then he tucks in.
I hope the vet can sort out Milo's eye!
And yes, my first thought was Six Dinner Sid, too. Who knows where they get to?
Conjunctivitis apparently, and he's had an injection and I've got to give him eye drops. I thought he might have a scratched cornea like astro_girl's new cat, but they said it was OK.
The same thought had occurred to me about a scratch! I hope that the conjunctivitis clears up quickly...
