|11:33 am - Student Protest|
My daughter has gone to this demo against the fee hike. She got up at 4am to get on the coach from Manchester. I never managed to get her up that early for anything.
She thought she wasn't going to be able to go because she had compulsory lab work, but her lecturer has postponed it to tomorrow.
I have a feeling my son was planning something a bit more radical. Possibly a sit-down somewhere. Luckily (?) he's got flu this week.
ETA - daughter just texted to say she was part of the sit-down outside Westminster, but all went peacably.

Good for her! I hope TPTB pay attention.
They're probably shaking in their shoes :-)
Very probably. And we can take our tongues out of our cheeks now :-)
I just mean because he's ill he won't go and do something that gets him arrested or beaten up
ETA for example currently on the Guardian live report
"Police have just stormed the building with batons in what looks like an attempt to clear the area, however the attempt failed. Some batons were used to strike out at protesters inside, but police have left the protesters inside and instead formed a line in front of the entrance to the building."

something a bit more radical
According to the Guardian who are live-blogging the march, about 200 students have invaded the Tory party HQ on Millbank. The sudden flurry of sirens I just heard (I work very near to Parliament Square), may be confirmation...
More sirens (the third lot) as I type.
There may be action against banks and Vodaphone too perhaps
(I should say, my son wasn't involved with the group in the news story, I think they are from London)

This seems very much directed at the Tory HQ at Millbank. Which of course we all deplore and condemn, and I will wipe this grin off my face Right Now Sure Gov.

I have a bunch of virtual flowers for your daughter. Also, for your son, I think I have a skimask somewhere...
I am just going to text her and make sure she is OK. They are saying 50,000 turned up, i wish it was more.

I'm in Whitehall now, there were at least 50,000 on the march. Sounds like it's getting ugly at CCHQ
Oh are you! Wonderful. What is the atmosphere like where you are?

I was close to the front, was pretty good natured. Whole things dispersed now, apparently the riot police have gone into Millbank and are people are getting hurt.

Good for both of them.
I saw him yesterday and poor thing had a temperature. I hope he's tucked up sleeping it off now.
