04:45 pm - Optical illusion An extremely powerful optical illusion
You see the blue and green spirals?
Amazingly they are the same colour: "RGB color values in both spirals are 0, 255, 150".
I copied it to Paint and cut-and-paste, and they are definitely the same colour. Wow.

Fab! I love optical illusions. That one really is amazing.
Good isn't it? Often you can make yourself see the real thing, but I literally can't.
I managed to see the blue turning a bit greener at the far right of the image, but that's about as near as I can get.
Me, too; also at the top left. The bands are wider there, so the effect of the contrasting colours isn't so pronounced, I think.

In the magnified view I found the "blue" was more green than before. But it was still pretty blue!
I copied it to Paint and cut-and-paste,
This is much more sophisticated than me: I tried to crop it with my fingers on the screen whilst turning my head and squinting.
I must admit I did that first
I didn't believe this was true, but I copied it to Photoshop and they are the same.
The other way you can check is high magnification
Heh. That's good!
Knowing that it was an optical illusion of *some* kind, I looked at it for a while - what was the trick, how was I being fooled? That didn't even cross my mind....
Thanks for the pointer.
Very cool.
Also: Ow! My eyes, my eyes! |
