05:50 pm - Ashes Thanks to altariel for the link. This is a lovely one hour program by David Mitchell's comedy partner, Robert Webb, speaking about TS Eliot, ee cummings, and Larkin. And he goes to a pub open-mike poetry night! It seems a bit stuffier than ours.
He does it very well, candid and charming. I've sat indoors for an hour to watch this, on a lovely day. I didn't want to stop watching.

Comments:
I too followed altariel's link, and watched the same programme. I felt somewhat about the programme as Robert Webb seems to feel about poetry, some bits enthralled me, some bits made me well up - and some bits I found my attention wandering to the dusting :)
It takes a lot to make me think about dusting. I did watch it from start to finish, and I then went out in the garden and listened to Paul Schofield reading The Wasteland and East Coker.
I'll have to give this a go. I've got Armando Iannucci's one one Milton recorded to watch, but forgot to record the Robert Webb one.
I didn't like Ianucci on Milton too much - although I like him and I like Paradise Lost. I think I have decided opinions, and so does A.I. and they aren't the same opinions, dammit. |
